Alien Kit Review: We Look at the Exciting 220W Smok Alien Kit

We look into the Alien mod, SMOK’s brand new high powered box mod. The SMOK Alien system consists of a 220W TC double-18650 box mod and a TFV8 Baby Beast tank. In this Alien Kit Review the emphasis will be placed only on the vape mod. The Alien Kit is for intermediate-to-advanced vapers who want an attractive all-in-one equipment setup that offers ample energy and excellent performance.

The SMOK Alien box mod is comparable in size, form, and power output to a range of other mods. They differ in cosmetic designs, display screens, and menu navigation, but all will be more alike than not. The comparatively compact, oblong cylindrical shape is currently popular among Chinese mod makers such as SmokTech.

The large OLED display above the rhomboid-shaped modification buttons is obvious and contains an abundance of information – more than on the majority of mods – but the structure, graphic design and style, and font sizes make your display appear to be a little cluttered.

The Alien uses a very long firing pin on one side that is contoured to the model of the mod case and triggered by pressing the top of the bar. The firing bar fits either thumb or induce firing and has a short throw, but the drive is a bit rigid, hence the pressure needed to activate firing is more than for some mods.

Performance is up to the standards vapers have come to anticipate from current-generation, higher-strength box mods. Firing is instantaneous in all of the modes and adjustable for hard, gentle, or regular initial ramp-up. Temp management is correct and is successful.

Navigation from the menu system is sufficiently straightforward and simple that someone other than a techno-geek can operate it easily (i.e., a regular person). Energy output might be slightly overrated, but that’s typical of nearly all mod-creators. Quibbling over a couple of watts at 200 is irrelevant for the vast majority of vapers. For most, the limits in the Alien’s potential output will never be approached.

Actual vaping overall performance is very good. Any long-term troubles of dependability or longevity will make time to arise and also be assessed, but current scratch technology and manufacturing standards are noticeably higher than a year or two in the past, so potential customers are better for a long life of superior efficiency.
